PM COE Leader

Role Overview

The PM COE Leader will be responsible for a variety of different areas. Their goal is to develop a PMO COE operating model, then drive delivery execution using COE capabilities around methods and tools, training, benefits realization, integration management, and resource management across the portfolio. They will be responsible for establishing leading program management methodology and integrated toolset to drive standardization, repeatable processes, and consistent behaviors across all program and project managers. 

Finally, this person serves as the strategic arm of functions seeking innovation and continuous improvement opportunities with a goal of increasing the value of services the function provides to its consumers and the function’s brand across the organization.

The PM COE leader will join the implementation team at Gerent, tasked for overseeing the production of deliverables, working closely with various technical and non-technical team members; managing and running more complex and strategic technical projects once the COE is established and is up and running. In this role you will be the subject matter expert, who actively participates in the project, scoping, design, build, implementation and successful deployment of various Salesforce initiatives, with the end goal of delivering value for customers. 

What will you be doing? 

Establish and Organize the PM COE 

  • Define the PM COE's mandate, accountabilities, scope of activity and level of authority
  • Implement a project management framework/methodology for use by all project managers at Gerent 
  • Implement project management standards and metrics including cost, quality and delivery to ensure compliance to ISO and CMMI standards 
  • Liaise with internal auditors to ensure Gerent meets all desired compliance boards 
  • Establish a standardized governance model for projects and programs
  • Develop the executive dashboard(s) for the portfolio in collaboration with leadership and any legacy PMOs and project offices in the organization 

Operationalize PM COE 

  • Implement a stage gate methodology for stable, well-calibrated transition through each phase of the project life cycle 
  • Define and implement a centralized project documentation repository to ensure ongoing organization and visibility of key project documentation and deliverables
  • Create and implement common project management tools and templates
  • Establish recurring meetings with all project management staff enterprise-wide to discuss practice management, standards, innovations and key project management objectives and concerns and change management communications related to project delivery
  • Establish project execution feedback and refinement to drive quality into project deliverables and processes in areas of the organization in and outside of delivery; lessons learned actions
  • Consultation and support for project teams in use of methodology and operations to ensure a streamlined and effective approach based on the project objectives and client success
  • In collaboration with the leadership, develop and communicate a career path for project management resources in the organization and collaborate with project management staff on development plans (including internal educational options: lunch and learn sessions, mentoring, etc.) 
  • Participate in the interviewing and onboarding process of project leadership roles into the organization

COE Portfolio Management

  • Validate and prioritize the project portfolio, aligning and classifying initiatives against enterprise strategies, objectives and commitments working other areas of the organization to ensure alignment of resources skills sets and priority for work in the portfolio
  • Establish and operationalize Delivery excellence organization
  • Perform detailed health assessments of the portfolio of projects in the Delivery Excellence role and work to communicate with technical and non technical resources to address health issues 
  • Define divisional/enterprise project and operational key performance indicators

Work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively 

Complete Trailheads and Salesforce Certification on the following 

o Platform App Builder 

o OmniStudio Consultant

o Insurance Foundations – Insurance Certificate or Service Cloud Consultant o Community Cloud Consultant

What would make you successful? 

  • Experience implementing Small, Medium and Enterprise scale Salesforce solutions
  • Multiple Certifications (Admin, Consultant, Developer, Architect)
  • Demonstrated project leadership skills, with direct responsibility for managing project teams, budget and schedule 
  • Have led or participated in a multi discipline COE or a Project Management COE
  • Demonstrated project management skills with teams of varying size. Demonstrated history of delivering high quality results on schedule and within budget. 
  • Outstanding and effective interpersonal skills; along with strong communication skills both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to weigh business and technical requirements to produce project plans and estimates. 

  • Extensive external consulting experience, including CRM consulting; and hands-on experience with Salesforce. 
  • Hands on ability in configuration and declarative development. 
  • Manage and communicate with remote developers during non-traditional business hours. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high energy, team-oriented environment. 
  • Ability to multi-task and perform effectively under pressure. 
  • PMP Certification highly preferred
