SFMC Solution Architect

Role Overview

Gerent is looking for SFMC Solution Architects who will join the Delivery team and who share our vision of bringing the power of cloud computing to enterprises. As a Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Solution Architect, you will design, implement, and deploy Salesforce Marketing Cloud solutions to a wide variety of clients at the enterprise level. You will lead the Marketing Cloud solution designs of larger, cross-cloud marketing projects and/or own the entire project/solution design in those instances where Marketing Cloud or Pardot are implemented. 

Gerent pays for all the examination vouchers for any Salesforce certifications and ensures that you have time to prepare and pass the certification exams.

We are looking for SFMC Solution Architects with various degrees of experience at this time. Outlined below are the responsibilities and qualifications that are typically expected of our Solution Architects. The actual responsibilities and qualifications may vary slightly based on the experience and the level at which a candidate may get hired.

What you’ll do: 

  • Meet with clients to analyze their work practices and understand the nature of their businesses to properly define needs and customize marketing solutions using Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Develop marketing automation-specific user stories and lead use story refinement meetings to finalized acceptance criteria

  • Develop functional specifications and business architecture (in close collaboration with Marketing Technical Architect)

  • Recommend best practices for key Journey Builder/Engagement Studio campaigns

  • Develop marketing automation-specific project plan/work breakdown structure components in collaboration with Engagement Manager

  • Serve as primary point of contact to the client’s Product Owner for marketing automation and/or client marketing team

  • Iterate on solutions through a Build/Test/Review cycle with customer Product Owner

  • Offer high-level guidance on marketing best practices

  • Negotiate solutions to complex scenarios with multiple parties and agendas

  • Develop and deliver end-user training with support from Marketing Technical architect

  • Provide guidance to optimizing marketing operations

  • Coordinate and deliver User Acceptance Testing

  • Create client based training materials and deliver end-user training

  • Overall responsibility for project success and customer success

  • Optimize plans and resources to deliver maximum value to clients

  • Develop and nurture trusted adviser relationships with clients

  • Assist with Account Planning/Management and other pre-sales activities in new and existing logos

  • Influence and coach customers throughout their Salesforce journey

  • Coach, mentor and develop junior resources

  • Make decisions that positively impact Customer, Company, and Individual metrics

What we’re looking for:


  • Hands on experience with Automation Studio, Journey Builder and Audience Builder.

  • Very good overall platform Setup & Configuration knowledge (Administration, SAP, Private domains, etc.)

  • Data architecture knowledge and best practices for how SFMC can import and export data in various formats and scenarios (Contact Builder, Setup).

  • Familiar with CASL requirements and the best practices for IP warming.

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL queries.

  • Some degree of experience with the creation of HTML/AMPScript emails and SFMC’s capabilities to use SSJS and AMPScript to personalize emails and drive dynamic content.

  • Best practices for contact key and overall data flows using the integration capabilities of the platform: API, MC Connect, files.

  • Some experience with SFMC Einstein, Mobile Studio and Advertising Studio.

  • Bonus points for experience working with other martech related platforms such as: SFDC “core” clouds, Adobe Experience Cloud, Oracle Marketing Cloud (Eloqua), Unica, Amperity, Informatica, Interaction Studio, Datorama, etc.

  • Exceptionally strong leadership & communication skills to effectively manage client accounts and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability and willingness to split time between technical and non-technical requirements, between client facing workshops and helping the team with the solution development and implementation.

  • Hands-on experience with creating and delivering solution architecture designs and functional or technical documentation using MS Office suite (Visio, Excel, Powerpoint, Word) or others such as LucidChart, etc.

  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working with marketing teams in delivering campaigns that make use of concepts like Hyper-personalization, Orchestration, Omnichannel and Next Best Action/Offer.

  • Experience with full lifecycle projects implementations using various SDLC methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile.

  • Bonus points for experience in a consulting environment and/or digital agency with demonstrated track record of continuing responsibilities, creativity, and innovation.

  • Communication and presentation skills — Must present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Innovation, creativity, and problem-solving —  Should be willing to think outside the box when confronting project challenges, building out practice assets and defining methods to train delivery resources. 

  • Strategy - Must be able to lay out a strategy or roadmap for clients onboarding or amidst a digital transformation anchored in Financial Services use cases
